 I loved the 2 PC AvPs, but this one left me wanting...Mar 06, 2010
I am a huge Alien(s) and Predator fan, I loved the original films, and could say that Aliens vs. Predator 2 on PC is the end of FPS games for me. I felt the game mechanics of that PC game were top notch, graphics great for their day, and the multiplayer lobby server as well at online matches were out standing.
When I heard this game was being made on the Next Gen workhorse consoles I was very excited but skeptical due to my fondness of the original, baring that Jaguar and Arcade games, AvP games on PC. Sadly my skepticism was correct for me. I find the game mechanics of this new AvP to be choppy, sluggish, and unpolished. The graphics are lacking. The sound is spot on tough. The online gaming is frustrating due to the fact that the lobby server is not an active search that lists multiple matches and allow you to pick one as the PC games did. Instead this one picks a game, and does not give you much control there after.
This being said my biggest problem with this game is that fact that I did not find it to be fun at all. Alien melee is a bit random compared to the previous games as is the melee of the Predator. Predators also start out with only wrist blades in multiplayer. The Aliens wall crawling ability is somewhat disorienting and frustrating with the "transitioning". Marines kick @$$, in terms of their weapons, exactly what you'd want in a Colonial Marine. However, some of the odd camera movements when climbing on or over things can be frustrating at first as well.
Either way, I was disappointed and really hope they release a patch to fix some of the issues. But I wont know since I traded it back in already. lol

I totally fell in love with this game. I have been a predator fan since I was a little boy, and this game really fasciantes you if you liked the Predator character!
I have finished the campaigns of The Predator and the Marine. I skipped the Alien campaign because I don't like the Alien character much.
The gameplay is so great! The graphics are breaktaking. I just don't know what the heck was going on in the heads of those pro reviers who crushed this game! I mean one pro reviewer gave this game 5.5/10 (Mediocre) rating!! This game is awsome, it should have received at least an 8.5/10
The only thing I didn't like much is that you are fighting the aliens most of the time, wther as a Predator or as a Marine. When playing as a Marine, I only faced the Predator once, and kinda of killed him easily. It would have been nice if you would fight several predators at several stages of the game.

When you go into multiplayer mode with your friends or strangers, you don't get to pick whether you play as a Marine, Predator or Alien. The game automatically chooses who your team will play as. It is very difficult to play as an Alien until you get used to crawling upside down on ceilings, sideways on walls, etc. with no weapon but your tail. Pretty good graphics though.

I downloaded the demo on the playstation network, and it only had a on-line mode. The online was pretty fun, and got me excited, because this would be the first Aliens game I've played. I was disappointed there wasn't a single player mode, and wasn't sure if it would have one. Well, I got this game and WOW. They do have a single player mode. You get to pick from the Humans, Aliens, or Predator. I choose the Humans first, just to get the mood going, and let's say I haven't jumped up and screamed like this since the first Resident Evil. I can't stop playing it. The only reason I stopped was I need sleep. I can't comment on the Aliens or Predator section, since I haven't played it, but I know from the quality of this section, the others will be awesome. The story so far has parts and bits from the Aliens movies, and you just feel like your IN THE MOVIE. So far the story is great, I don't know what some other reviewer was talking about. The story keeps you going, and you have objectives that are very easy to follow. The pace is great so far. Also, there are check points which are in the best spots, because will die, and love it! You just keep going back for more. If you have any doubts, or think this is going to be bad like some people think the movie was, don't worry. This is a great game.

The reviews by the mainstream weren't very favorable but that's cause there afraid to say they anything is good unless it's Call Of Duty or Halo. It has Bad @** Marines The savageness of The Aliens down & the stalking & stealth style of the Predators down. I guess these idiots who complain about the gameplay never saw any of the movies which I love except for AvP & AVPR I mean WTF setting it on Earth before the the Alien Quadrilogy timeline & no Marines. guess what it takes place on a different planet & we have Marines responding to a distress call it involves the Weyland/Yutani studying Aliens the Marines are there but so are the Predators. You will fight a Predator during the Marine mission & a lot of Predators during the Alien storyline. AvP is a great game the controlls are good graphics are decent & you should purchase it. This goes to show you Paul WS Anderson & the Strause Brothers keep it true to the series & keep it simple & you'll have a winner. Now Sega & Gear Box give us Aliens Colonial Marines.
